Electrochemistry concerns the transformations of electrical and chemical energy at interfaces, and it is central to a wide range of technologies including energy conversion, energy storage, chemical production, thin film deposition, and electrochromic displays. Research is aided by the development and application of first-principle theoretical simulations and mathematical modeling of nanostructured electrochemical interfaces. The work is highly interdisciplinary, drawing on department expertise in computation, materials synthesis and characterization, device fabrication, and electrochemical instrumentation and testing.
